We cannot go sun tanning during the cold winter months. Because the sun is not bright at that time and its rays cannot make us tan.

So, spray tanning is the best option to get that gorgeous tan in the winter. Getting a spray tan at home or a salon can help us to achieve that glowing dark tan. However, it may stain our clothes and shoes if not used properly.

Wearing accurate clothes and shoes is necessary before going for a spray tan session. Not being prepared before the tanning session can remove the color and make your tan uneven.

My clients ask me what shoes to wear after a spray tan to avoid stains and to make the tan long-lasting. I suggest they wear open-toed shoes and dark-colored clothes to prevent stains.

So, if you want to get more information on what shoes to wear after a spray tan then, you are in the right place.

Here, I will share some useful tips on what to wear and what not to wear after a spray tan session to make your tan last longer.

What Kind of Shoes Should You Wear After Spray Tan?

We all have a huge collection of shoes that we buy now and then and love to show them off. But after your airbrush tanning session, you cannot do so. You have limited options to wear so, that your tan does not get messed up.

You have to say a big NO to tight-fitted clothes and shoes after getting the spray tan.

Wearing tight shoes and clothes can smudge and rub off the color and thus, lead to streaks and patches.

  • Footbed: Soft EVA with etched Roxy script
  • Outsole: Rubberlon
  • Order one size up if in between sizes

Wearing trainers can be a good option as they are low at the ankle and thus, cover very little of your legs.

Some of the good options that you may try out are Flip-flops, slip-on without heels, and open-toed sandals.

If you are visiting a salon to get your airbrush spray done then, do remember to wear loose, dark clothes and open-toed shoes. Also, avoid wearing a bra just after getting the spray tan.

Always avoid wearing sneakers and shoes that cover your feet after the spray tan session.

The tan gets removed leaving ugly patches by covered shoes that can make your feet sweat.

What Socks Should You Wear After a Spray Tan?

Some of my friends and clients ask me what socks to wear after a spray tan. So, I always suggest they avoid white socks. As they might get stained if worn just after the spray tanning session.

It is best if you do not wear socks after getting a spray tan. But, during winter you cannot leave your feet open for long. So, you can try out polyester and dark cotton socks.

To make your tan last longer without getting rubbed away you need to keep away your leather, nylon, and silk socks.

Aftercare

Proper aftercare can make your spray tan last longer. Try not to wear anything on your feet if your spray tan is done at home.

If you avoid wearing shoes and socks for 8 hours after the spray tanning session unless it is fully developed then, you don’t have to worry about getting stains and an uneven tan.

Also, do not get your nails done for the next 2 days after getting tan, and do not exercise or take a shower before 24 hours.
